Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Marci and Ramzi

Happy Monday everyone! Last week was an exciting week for the Crystal Blue family as we welcomed our newest addition, Kaden John! No, he won’t be blogging anytime soon…he’s just working on being ultra-cute for now!
Anyway, on to today’s real wedding of Marci and Ramzi! This beautiful couple were married at Grand Old House in Grand Cayman and enjoyed a portrait session with Aaron Rebarchek at Camana Bay.
Crystal Blue :: Why did you choose Cayman as the destination for your wedding?
Marci and Ramzi :: We knew we wanted a destination wedding in the Caribbean so we began researching and reading any reviews we could find. I never read a bad review on Grand Cayman. People just loved it! We chose Grand Cayman for its accessibility, the many wedding venue options, the beautiful beaches and the variety of activities to do and sights to see. We made the perfect choice, and it was the most fabulous wedding vacation with our family and friends!
Crystal Blue :: What was the design inspiration for your wedding day?
Marci and Ramzi :: We wanted to capture the beauty of the Caribbean water and the tropical setting of the island without using too many decorations that would take away from the natural beauty of the setting. We wanted to enhance it by using simple orchid flowers submerged in water for the centerpieces, a shade of turquoise for the bridemaids’ dresses to highlight the blue-green of the water, and a splash of red to create that tropical feeling (also, it is a symbol of luck and happiness in Chinese culture!).
Crystal Blue :: What was your most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Marci and Ramzi :: The ceremony was certainly one of the more memorable and special moments from the wedding. The emotions from our vows made the moment so unforgettable and meaningful (Also, it really helped that the officiant had a grand presence and personality). Many guests commented on the beauty and sincerity of the ceremony. Another memorable moment was the speeches made by the maid of honor and best man. The maid of honor, my best friend who I have known for over 17 years, gave a speech that was personal, funny and touching. Ramzi’s brother was the best man, and gave a heartfelt and genuine speech that brought tears to everyone’s eyes.

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Erin and Christopher, Part 2

Welcome back for Part 2 of Erin and Christopher’s not-so-scary Halloween wedding! With the ceremony at Grand Old House, decked out with tropical goodness, this couple (and their group) really had a fabulous day!
Above…the iguana wasn’t invited to the wedding, by the way!
I know it’s not about me, but my favorite part of their story is this…
The hardest part of the planning process was picking a date. Both of us have extremely busy schedules….we rarely see each other. I work nights as a nurse and Chris works days as an engineer. We originally wanted to get married in the summer, but could not make it work so we then had to switch to the fall. My dad is a huge University of Delaware football fan and ever since I was a little girl I was told I was not allowed to get married during football season. We checked the schedule and noticed that Delaware was not playing the weekend of October 30th so we decided to get married that weekend. (I love that they scheduled their date around Football…true, true fans!!!)

Happy Wedding Wednesday! Today we’re bringing a ton of DIY goodness Cayman Islands Style! This couple hand made so many details of their wedding to bring out various personal aspects and make their wedding extra special!
Let’s start with the invitation–how cute are these? The invitations set the tone for the wedding and these tell me fun, casual with a dash of elegance. What do they say to you?
Now, these were my favorite part. If you’ve ever been to Cayman you will know there are fun colorful directional signs everywhere. This couple made a HUGE directional sign to show all of the places they’ve been together. I wonder if the mileage is correct…kidding! For each table instead of having a table number they used locations that were meaningful to them. Accompanying the table name frame was a brief story about why they chose that location…I love the personal feel!!
These two photos were a perfect reflection of the fun people involved in this wedding!!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Rhian and Matt, Part 2
by Danielle on September 15, 2010
in Real Weddings
We hope you enjoyed Part 1 of Rhian and Matt’s wedding yesterday. As promised, today we are sharing with you the reception details…there are a few and they are all fab!
Well, this is technically a ceremony detail, but don’t you love these programs? A friend of the bride designed them for the couple and I thought they were just beautiful!!
The tables were set up as two long kings banquets with a navy blue runner down the middle. Down the center of the runner were arrangements of white football mums and hot pink hydrangea. These perfectly complemented the hot pink napkins and the decor coordinated menus at each place setting.
The wedding party had some fun taking shots with these umbrellas–such a perfect simple accessory for a few photos!
Instead of a guest book, the couple had everyone write out Cayman Islands post cards. These will be mailed to them next year for their one year anniversary. I LOVE this idea! What a wonderful treat to look forward too!
Everything was color coordinated for this wedding–down to the flip flops most used later on in the night! After a long day in stilettos, who wouldn’t want some dancing shoes??
All in all, a wonderful day! Congratulations Rhian and Matt!!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Rhian and Matt

Today’s couple loves the island so much, not only did they get married here, they also named their little puppy Cayman. That’s one cute puppy named after one gorgeous island. I digress…really, I want to show you and tell you about Rhian and Matt’s wedding! We’ve got so many fabulous details for you today this is going to be a two part treat!
With a color palette of hot pink, navy blue and a touch of turquoise, these gals (and all of the details) really popped amongst the gorgeous scenery at Grand Old House. Rhian and Matt wanted a mixture of casual, elegant, romantic and fun. By my definitions of these words, I think they accomplished just that!
While on island, the group enjoyed a fun day trip to Stingray City (this is a MUST DO if you are ever on the island!), a lovely rehearsal lunch at Casanova’s By The Sea and of course some good quality beach time at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort where they all stayed.
The ceremony and reception were held at Grand Old House in South Sound, Grand Cayman. (Above, the bride and groom practice their dance moves before their entrance into the reception!) The ceremony, held on the outer deck, was stunning. There were even two extra guests…a couple of people snorkeling in the water stopped their adventure to listen to the ceremony.
Come back for Part 2…all of the reception details (and there are some fab ones!) and the providers who made this day happen, tomorrow!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Jillian and Bryan
by Danielle on July 16, 2010
in Real Weddings
Happy Friday! Today we’re sharing Jillian and Bryan’s wedding with you. This one is full of DIY, Love and F-U-N!
We had a chat with the Bride about the details and here’s what she said…
CBWS :: Why did you choose Cayman as the destination for your wedding?
Jillian :: Grand Cayman, in our opinion, is unlike any other island destination. You cannot go anywhere else and find the same hospitality, environment, and beautiful, natural surroundings. We both have very small families so we wanted to go away to a place that would still feel like home. We found that in Grand Cayman at the Marriott Beach Resort and Grand Old House. We recommend these two places to any couple thinking of marrying in Grand Cayman, and we certainly recommend the island for any couple unsure of a destination wedding location.
CBWS :: Tell us about finding the wedding dress?
Jillian :: This is a memory that will stick with me forever. Because my mother and sister do not live very close to me, Bryan and I actually did a little dress shopping on our own. It was just so difficult to get everyone in one place. I actually found a dress that I loved. Much more casual than the one I ended up with. When we were finally able to schedule a time that we could all be in the same place, we set up a couple of appointments, one at the location of the dress that I had originally liked, Nicole Miller, and then one at Priscilla of Boston (per my sister’s recommendation). We went to Priscilla first. My mother brought her close friend Yolanda. She came equipped with Sharpie’s and paper plates. She proceed to make judging cards (putting 1-10 on each of the plates). When I would try on dresses, they would rate the dress. When I put on the (I think 6th) dress, before they could display their score, they all began to cry, as did I. Slowly they all raised “10”s. It was a wonderful moment. After the paperwork was signed, I called the other location and cancelled. I knew as soon as I put THE DRESS on at Priscilla that it was the dress that was meant for me!
CBWS :: What was your most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Jillian :: The most memorable part of our day was probably our vows. We both wrote our own and did not share them with each other or anyone else until the Ceremony. It was a very emotional moment that we were able to share with our guests. My favorite design element was really all the decorations that my sister created. The Grand Old House did a wonderful job with providing her with the canvas, and then she was able to take it to the next level. The centerpieces, programs, chair décor, place cards, guest book table, etc. all fell into place and matched our personalities well.
CBWS :: In retrospect, do you have any thoughts you would like to share with our readers?
Jillian :: We had the wedding of our dreams thanks to all parties involved. We seriously do not have one thing we would have changed. I never thought a wedding could run so smoothly or be so beautiful, but it was all we wanted and more. To all the soon-to-be Brides and Grooms out there, Grand Cayman is the place to get married…hands down! You can’t go wrong with staying at the Marriott, marrying at the Grand Old House, and having Rebecca Davidson capture all the special moments!
