Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Kristin and Howie

Weddings in the Cayman Islands do not have to be all sea shells and tropical colors. This wedding is a perfect example of finding one element (in this case it was the cake) and basing the entire design around that one thing. The color was red accented by silver, the couple was full of energy and laughter and the guests had a spectacular time!
The wedding was held at Grand Old House in Grand Cayman just a couple of weeks ago. I had the opportunity to meet this couple and let me tell you, I have never seen two more smiley and energetic people in my life! Being around them, I couldn’t help but be excited for them and their big day!
So many elements of this wedding were personal to the bride and groom, including the vows they wrote for each other…on their iphones. I like to think I’m technologically savvy, but when they took their phones out to read their vows I was pretty impressed!
Kristin :: The most memorable moment of the day was during the ceremony. I was tearing up while Howie was non-stop laughing. I looked around and everyone was also crying & laughing at the same time with us. It was so emotional!! I remember thinking he was so cute and after his said his vows I asked the officiate if I could kiss him. He told me I had to wait!
We’ll be back in a little while with more–don’t miss it!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Rachel and Boris

Have you ever seen a couple and said “they were just made for each other!!” ? Well, if you have or if you haven’t it doesn’t really matter, but let me introduce you to Rachel and Boris…these two, without a doubt were made for each other!!! This fun pair were married only a couple of weeks ago on the East End of Grand Cayman at The Reef. The resort was a perfect fit for the two and their guests and everyone had a fantastic time!!
Crystal Blue :: Why did you choose the Cayman Islands for your wedding?
Rachel and Boris :: We both wanted to choose a place that neither had been to before. Fortunately, the both of us have seen a lot of the world. A good friend recommended that we should check out Grand Cayman. With so much to offer it was an easy decision and our friend could not have chosen better!
Crystal Blue :: It is rather nice, isn’t it?? How did you choose The Reef as your location?
Rachel and Boris :: Choosing the resort (as our accommodation and wedding venue) was the most difficult part of the entire process for us. Grand Cayman has so many beautiful locations for a wedding it was hard to narrow down! I finally leaned on my wedding planner and asked for her guidance and recommendation. She gave her recommendations and from there we made our decision. After that, everything else was easy!!
Crystal Blue :: What was the design inspiration for your day?
Rachel and Boris :: Don’t laugh, but it was our living room! (I laugh…). Espresso Brown, Aquamarine and white are my favorite colors and the colors of our living room. The colors are also earthy to me due to our love of the ocean (aqua), sand (white) as we are avid divers. We knew we didn’t want elements of the ocean on land for a sea side wedding. For example, we didn’t want Sea Stars, or Sand Dollars as a part of the wedding decor. We wanted to leave those elements in the ocean. The Palm Tree however was topside, so that became the “badge” that we carried throughout the entire wedding design.
Come back for more from Rachel and Boris in a while!!

Welcome back for more of Scott and Lindsay’s Christmas Eve Wedding! Loving this beautiful turquoise and orange color palate and the fun, laid back style of this couple!
After the ceremony the guests were met with the couple’s signature drink, the Cayman Sunset (appropriate, I’d say!!) and then made their way up to the rooftop for a great dinner, heartfelt speeches and dancing the night away!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Pam and Ryan

Hello lovelies! I hope you had a nice weekend and are ready for some more Cayman Islands beauty this week!!! Today we are featuring the wedding of Pam and Ryan…one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever met!
This cute couple was wed at Grand Old House, an absolutely stunning waterfront venue in Grand Cayman. Here are some of the details to get you warmed up!
I know Pam and Ryan and was fortunate enough to be able to help them with their day and when we caught up to chat, they shared some of their favorite moments and memories…
Crystal Blue :: What was the MOST memorable part of your wedding day?
Pam and Ryan ::
We chose to have photos of the two of us taken before the ceremony and it proved to be so exciting and fun to have that time alone together (well almost alone together) before the ceremony. We still had our special moment of seeing each other for the first time but it was a little more private as it was just in front of our parents and bridal party. At the end of the photos we were both so excited for the ceremony, all the nerves were gone and the rest of the day just felt absolutely amazing.
Crystal Blue :: Everything was really beautiful, tell us about the decor and your design inspiration.
Pam and Ryan :: (Pam’s) favorite colors– purple, clover green & cream–were the color palate. We wanted the décor to be bright and happy as the ceremony and reception were held outside overlooking the water. Octopus Events really provided great design on how to bring out these colors throughout the décor to ensure everything flowed together.
Crystal Blue :: What was your favorite part??
Pam and Ryan :: Our favorite design element was the reception table décor. The centerpieces were simple and beautiful and consisted of purple hydrangea, green cymbidium orchids and limes. We also loved the cream colored pintuck table clothes (selected by the groom) which added a nice texture. All of this was accented by candlelight to give make it a bit more romantic!
Crystal Blue :: The whole evening was great! Let’s not forget the surprise salsa dancers you had–that was such a fun surprise for all of your guests!
There is still more to see so come back for more soon!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Nisha and Jake, Part 2
by Danielle on February 11, 2010

I promised tropical colors and I never break a promise! Nisha and Jake picked hot pink, gold and orange as their colors. I also mentioned they wanted to combine traditional Indian with Cayman beach and that is exactly what they got!
The biggest piece of the decor was the Mandap which is the wedding altar. Natural bamboo was used combined with yummy hot pink, orange and gold fabric and the handmade, hot pink Cayman bougainvillea. Absolutely stunning!!!
We talked to Nisha after the wedding to find out a little more.
Crystal Blue: Nisha, seeing as your wedding was not quite the traditional beach wedding we normally see in Cayman, did you have to make any hard decisions during the planning process you didn’t expect?
Nisha: No. Everything was fairly easy and I was so happy about that. The planners at Octopus Events and at the Grand Cayman Marriott were great and pointed me in the right direction for everything I needed.
Crystal Blue: What was one of your favorite things about the day?
Nisha: The Mandap was my favorite design element. I loved the colors and the natural elements that were used. I also loved how it was transformed from the altar (during the ceremony) to the centerpiece of the room during the reception. The pillows and candles made it so romantic and the lighting on the fabric really highlighted the entire area.
Crystal Blue: Tell us about one of your funniest moments.
Nisha: The speeches were really funny and lighthearted, so we laughed a lot. There is a tie, though…between dancing to “Poker Face” in the Mandap during the reception while everyone watched and having to call Jake “My Lord”, unexpectedly, during our vows. It was hilarious!
Not too much chit-chat with this real wedding. The photos really tell the story and show you the beauty of the day…enjoy!
