Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Jennifer and Philipp

Today we are introducing you to Jennifer and Philipp’s wedding weekend!  I say introduce because there was so much fun with this couple and their group, this is just the first post of a few you will see this week.  I was so honored to personally work with Jennifer and Philipp…they are such fantastic people with impeccable style and full of fun  that I just had a blast helping them plan their wedding weekend.

The weekend started when the guests arrived…each welcomed with a bag full of goodies including Tortuga Rum and a can of diet Coke, Tortuga coffee, some snacks and a map/itinerary designed by Laura Hooper Calligraphy.  Everyone stayed at the Caribbean Club and Jennifer and Philipp had a great idea and rented one of the villas to be the “gathering” point throughout the weekend.

Thursday night everyone enjoyed a welcome cocktail in the Villa and then headed to Ragazzi for a yummy casual dinner.  It was a great way to start off the weekend!  Jennifer and Philipp had David Wolfe document each night (and of course the wedding day!).

Day 2…beach, fun and sun during the day and the white party at night.  The night kicked off with a sunset sail on the Red Sail catamaran.  Mise En Place catered in some apps for the sail as well.  After returning to shore, the guests enjoyed the rest of the evening at the Villa where steel drummers played some tunes, Mise En Place put on some food and beverage and everyone just had a great time!

Day 3…wedding day.  You’ll have to come back later in the week for these details!!!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Wedding Wednesday!

in Real Weddings, Uncategorized

Happy Wedding Wednesday!  Hope your week is going well and you’re looking forward to the wedding goodness today.  I commonly receive emails and comments asking me to feature more simple weddings and today I’m happy to oblige!

This wedding was held recently on a private beach in the South Sound area of the island.  The couple and guests stayed on the East End of the island and made the “journey” into town for the ceremony and dinner at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman.  The day was beautiful, as you can see by the photos and the couple couldn’t be happier!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Ashley and Todd, Portrait and Trash The Dress

by on November 4, 2010
in Real Weddings

Welcome back!  Our final installment of Ashley and Todd’s wedding.  For the week leading up to the wedding, Ashley was unsure about trashing the dress.  I told her, knowing Rebecca Davidson as well as I do, if she’s on the fence about it, she will end up in the water with the dress on!  So, needless to say, I was not surprised when these photos landed in my inbox!  Look how much fun they’re having–Ashley, you made the right decision!!!

They started off their portrait session at Camana Bay which has all sorts of gorgeous nooks and crannies!

They then moved on to the Shangri La Bed and Breakfast for a few shots…

And finally took to the water for the official trashing of the dress!!

Well done you two and congratulations!!!!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Rhian and Matt, Part 2

by on September 15, 2010
in Real Weddings

We hope you enjoyed Part 1 of Rhian and Matt’s wedding yesterday.  As promised, today we are sharing with you the reception details…there are a few and they are all fab!

Well, this is technically a ceremony detail, but don’t you love these programs?  A friend of the bride designed them for the couple and I thought they were just beautiful!!

The tables were set up as two long kings banquets with a navy blue runner down the middle.  Down the center of the runner were arrangements of white football mums and  hot pink hydrangea.  These perfectly complemented the hot pink napkins and the decor coordinated menus at each place setting.

The wedding party had some fun taking shots with these umbrellas–such a perfect simple accessory for a few photos!

Instead of a guest book, the couple had everyone write out Cayman Islands post cards.  These will be mailed to them next year for their one year anniversary.  I LOVE this idea!  What a wonderful treat to look forward too!

Everything was color coordinated for this wedding–down to the flip flops most used later on in the night!  After a long day in stilettos, who wouldn’t want some dancing shoes??

All in all, a wonderful day!  Congratulations Rhian and Matt!!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Rhian and Matt

Today’s couple loves the island so much, not only did they get married here, they also named their little puppy Cayman.  That’s one cute puppy named after one gorgeous island.  I digress…really, I want to show you and tell you about Rhian and Matt’s wedding!  We’ve got so many fabulous details for you today this is going to be a two part treat!

With a color palette of hot pink, navy blue and a touch of turquoise, these gals (and all of the details) really popped amongst the gorgeous scenery at Grand Old House.  Rhian and Matt wanted a mixture of casual, elegant, romantic and fun.  By my definitions of these words, I think they accomplished just that!

While on island, the group enjoyed a fun day trip to Stingray City (this is a MUST DO if you are ever on the island!), a lovely rehearsal lunch at Casanova’s By The Sea and of course some good quality beach time at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort where they all stayed.

The ceremony and reception were held at Grand Old House in South Sound, Grand Cayman.  (Above, the bride and groom practice their dance moves before their entrance into the reception!)  The ceremony, held on the outer deck, was stunning.  There were even two extra guests…a couple of people snorkeling in the water stopped their adventure to listen to the ceremony.

Come back for Part 2…all of the reception details (and there are some fab ones!) and the providers who made this day happen, tomorrow!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Kristin and Howie, Part 2

We’re back with more red details from this fun couple!

During the reception the couple heard from many of their friends and family with heartfelt speeches (all written on their iphones), fun games and dancing the night away.  Bona Fide got the party started with their amazing musical talent and everyone danced the night away!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Kristin and Howie

Weddings in the Cayman Islands do not have to be all sea shells and tropical colors.  This wedding is a perfect example of finding one element (in this case it was the cake) and basing the entire design around that one thing.  The color was red accented by silver, the couple was full of energy and laughter and the guests had a spectacular time!

The wedding was held at Grand Old House in Grand Cayman just a couple of weeks ago.  I had the opportunity to meet this couple and let me tell you, I have never seen two more smiley and energetic people in my life!   Being around them, I couldn’t help but be excited for them and their big day!

So many elements of this wedding were personal to the bride and groom, including the vows they wrote for each other…on their iphones.  I like to think I’m technologically savvy, but when they took their phones out to read their vows I was pretty impressed!

Kristin ::  The most memorable moment of the day was during the ceremony.  I was tearing up while Howie was non-stop laughing.  I looked around and everyone was also crying & laughing at the same time with us. It was so emotional!!  I remember thinking he was so cute  and after his said his vows I asked the officiate if I could kiss him.  He told me I had to wait!

We’ll be back in a little while with more–don’t miss it!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Rachel and Boris

Have you ever seen a couple and said “they were just made for each other!!” ?  Well, if you have or if you haven’t it doesn’t really matter, but let me introduce you to Rachel and Boris…these two, without a doubt were made for each other!!!  This fun pair were married only a couple of weeks ago on the East End of Grand Cayman at The Reef.  The resort was a perfect fit for the two and their guests and everyone had a fantastic time!!

Crystal Blue ::  Why did you choose the Cayman Islands for your wedding?

Rachel and Boris ::  We both wanted to choose a place that neither had been to before.  Fortunately, the both of us have seen a lot of the world.  A good friend recommended that we should check out Grand Cayman.  With so much to offer it was an easy decision and our friend could not have chosen better!

Crystal Blue ::  It is rather nice, isn’t it??  How did you choose The Reef as your location?

Rachel and Boris ::  Choosing the resort (as our accommodation and wedding venue) was the most difficult part of the entire process for us.  Grand Cayman has so many beautiful locations for a wedding it was hard to narrow down!  I finally leaned on my wedding planner and asked for her guidance and recommendation.  She gave her recommendations and from there we made our decision.  After that, everything else was easy!!

Crystal Blue ::  What was the design inspiration for your day?

Rachel and Boris ::  Don’t laugh, but it was our living room!  (I laugh…).  Espresso Brown, Aquamarine and white are my favorite colors and the colors of our living room.  The colors are also earthy to me due to our love of the ocean (aqua), sand (white) as we are avid divers.  We knew we didn’t want elements of the ocean on land for a sea side wedding.  For example, we didn’t want Sea Stars, or Sand Dollars as a part of the wedding decor.  We wanted to leave those elements in the ocean.  The Palm Tree however was topside, so that became the “badge” that we carried throughout the entire wedding design.

Come back for more from Rachel and Boris in a while!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Lindsay and Scott, Part 2

Welcome back for more of Scott and Lindsay’s Christmas Eve Wedding!  Loving this beautiful turquoise and orange color palate and the fun, laid back style of this couple!

After the ceremony the guests were met with the couple’s signature drink, the Cayman Sunset (appropriate, I’d say!!) and then made their way up to the rooftop for a great dinner, heartfelt speeches and dancing the night away!
