Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Lisa and Mark

Welcome to Wedding Wednesday!  We hope you enjoy the first Wedding Wednesday of the year and to help, we’re bringing you more from the Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman!

Lisa and Mark were married on the beach at the Ritz Carlton with their closest family and friends surrounding them.  The beauty of the Caribbean was the decor focus for these two, keeping details to a minimum.  I got to spend a little bit of time with these two and their crew–what wonderful people just full of love and happiness for each other!!

Lisa, Mark and many of their guests stayed just down the road at The Beachcomber.  A great choice of accommodation for families and groups with not only luxury condominiums but a gorgeous piece of Seven Mile Beach to really enjoy!!

While in Grand Cayman the group also enjoyed an excursion to Stingray City as well as a fantastic Thanksgiving feast cooked by the bride herself!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Heather and Tom

Welcome to Wedding Wednesday!!!  We hope you’re having a good week and are excited to share Heather and Tom’s Ritz Carlton wedding with you!

I always wonder why couples choose the Cayman Islands for their destination wedding.  I mean I KNOW why, but does everyone know what I know??

I asked Heather and Tom why they chose Cayman…here’s what they said:

“From the moment Tom and I got engaged in May we both knew we wanted a small intimate wedding someplace warm.  We had been researching several locations online when I remembered a cruise that took me to the Grand Caymans when I was younger.  I had only spent a day there, but I had a great time.  We began to look into what the island had to offer and were very happy with everything we had seen, but being that this would be one of the most important days of our lives Tom and I decided we needed to experience things for ourselves.  So, in July we took a vacation to Grand Cayman and stayed at The Ritz Carlton hotel on Seven Mile Beach.  We were blown away by the food and service they provided us that we knew it was the place for us.”

Heather and Tom’s ceremony was held on the Great Lawn at the Ritz Carlton and their intimate reception in one of the many gorgeous ballrooms the Ritz Carlton has to offer.  The Ritz Carlton has a full compliment of services from wedding planning and coordination to floral design to event rentals.  The folks there will take care of all of the details for your day!

The kings banquet table was stunning and Heather’s favorite design element from the day.   A long, low vase filled with red roses accented by two tall vases with calla lilies brought romance with a touch of drama to the table.  Coupled with a ton of candles, this table was stunning!

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a wedding without a bit of dancing!  This little guy boogied all night long!!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Ashley and Todd, Portrait and Trash The Dress

by on November 4, 2010
in Real Weddings

Welcome back!  Our final installment of Ashley and Todd’s wedding.  For the week leading up to the wedding, Ashley was unsure about trashing the dress.  I told her, knowing Rebecca Davidson as well as I do, if she’s on the fence about it, she will end up in the water with the dress on!  So, needless to say, I was not surprised when these photos landed in my inbox!  Look how much fun they’re having–Ashley, you made the right decision!!!

They started off their portrait session at Camana Bay which has all sorts of gorgeous nooks and crannies!

They then moved on to the Shangri La Bed and Breakfast for a few shots…

And finally took to the water for the official trashing of the dress!!

Well done you two and congratulations!!!!!

Welcome back!  I promised you some cute details and here’s where you’ll find them!  First, though, some more gorgeousness from Better Angle and the Ritz Carlton.

So Rachelle and Justin love their dog.  I mean, REALLY L-O-V-E their dog.  Unfortunately he couldn’t make the trip, but that didn’t stop them from incorporating him into their wedding details.

The favors…

The escort cards….(note the dog collar used to hang the luggage tag)

And finally…

I had to do a double take on this one, but alas, they are human cookies.

Cayman Islands Real Wedding

Morning everyone!  Hope you are having a great week and ready for some real wedding goodness!!  Today’s wedding is so fresh it’s like eating lettuce right from your garden (after rinsing, of course!).  Not to mention the bride and groom should just quit their day jobs and become models..seriously.

Really–when I first saw this wedding I thought it was a professional photo shoot with fans and other effects.  I love the simplicity of the white calla lily bouquet, just gorgeous.

The setting at Coral Reef House is intimate, beautiful and right on Seven Mile Beach!  One of the few stand alone houses you can rent on Seven Mile and what a perfect stretch of beach.

Crystal Blue Providers doing good :: Ice on Ice in the Cayman Islands

I know this isn’t about weddings, but some of our providers got involved in the annual Ice on Ice event and I wanted to give them a shout out!  This event supports the Cayman Islands Cancer Society and is a “brilliant” hit, year after year!  This year (and every year so far) Crystal Blue provider Every Bloomin’ Thing designed the event at the Westin Casuarina Resort and Spa.

The fun twist to this fundraiser…when the guests arrived, each received a welcome drink with an ice cube and a round cubic zirconia frozen inside.  Three guests were lucky enough to find a square shaped gem inside their glass meaning they were the lucky winners of a real diamond!

Guest enjoyed the music of another Crystal Blue Provider, One World, as well as several raffle drawings throughout the evening.

A few photos from the evening…(that I borrowed from the Z99 Facebook Fan Page–for more photos, visit them there!)

Proceeds from all of the ticket sales (organized by local radio station Z99) went to the Cancer Society.

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Rhian and Matt, Part 2

in Real Weddings

We hope you enjoyed Part 1 of Rhian and Matt’s wedding yesterday.  As promised, today we are sharing with you the reception details…there are a few and they are all fab!

Well, this is technically a ceremony detail, but don’t you love these programs?  A friend of the bride designed them for the couple and I thought they were just beautiful!!

The tables were set up as two long kings banquets with a navy blue runner down the middle.  Down the center of the runner were arrangements of white football mums and  hot pink hydrangea.  These perfectly complemented the hot pink napkins and the decor coordinated menus at each place setting.

The wedding party had some fun taking shots with these umbrellas–such a perfect simple accessory for a few photos!

Instead of a guest book, the couple had everyone write out Cayman Islands post cards.  These will be mailed to them next year for their one year anniversary.  I LOVE this idea!  What a wonderful treat to look forward too!

Everything was color coordinated for this wedding–down to the flip flops most used later on in the night!  After a long day in stilettos, who wouldn’t want some dancing shoes??

All in all, a wonderful day!  Congratulations Rhian and Matt!!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Amber and John

I love this wedding.  The story is fantastic and the photos are beautiful.  This great couple lives here in Grand Cayman so, like me, they get to experience paradise EVERY DAY!  (Sorry, don’t be too jealous!)

Two things I always ask about when chatting to these couples is first, tell me about the proposal and second, tell me about the funniest moment of your day.  After all, there is more to a wedding than flowers, a gorgeous dress and the first dance……

So, John told me about the proposal and let’s just say it involved some additional effort….

John ::  I proposed to Amber on Saturday, February 21st which was exactly two years after we met. We kayaked to a small secluded beach around Grand Cayman.   We were looking for sea shells when I caught her by surprise and told her I found a really nice one in the rocks…..then I popped the question.

Shortly after she said yes, I noticed that the kayak was no longer where I had tied it up.  It was drifting out to sea so I had to dive in and frantically swim to get it about 100 yards offshore.  I made it and Amber was on the beach cheering me on!!

Now this piece made me laugh out loud…I am a sarcastic person and sometimes people don’t get my humor so you may not find this as funny as I did…

CBWS ::  What was the funniest moment from your day?

Amber ::  During John’s speech he described meeting my Dad for the first time and how my Dad nonchalantly showed John his impressive gun collection.

Go Dad–I love that!!

Happy Monday!!  Hope you all had a nice weekend!  I’m excited to share this wedding with you today because it’s our first time showing this venue and it is one of my favorites!

The venue is a private villa on Seven Mile Beach called Coral Reef House.  It’s a beautiful five bedroom villa with an equally amazing stretch of beach and the perfect location for a wedding–small or large.  This lovely couple actually live in Grand Cayman and wanted someplace different for their wedding which is why they choose the Coral Reef.

Coordinated and designed by Celebrations, this couple kept natural with natural.  The bamboo seating for the ceremony as well as the woven lounge furniture really complimented the outdoor setting of the ceremony and reception.

Each guest received a thatch fan to keep cool and the couple stood under a natural bamboo canopy to exchange their vows.  The flowers were minimal, yet BEAUTIFUL and were, in fact, the bride’s favorite part of the design.

After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a lovely dinner under the stars and danced the night away!!!   Oh, by the way, come back Thursday for this couple’s AMAZING trash the dress session…you don’t want to miss–it’s too gorgeous!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Natalie and Matthew

by on May 25, 2010
in Real Weddings

Hi everyone!  Sorry for the quietness yesterday…was feeling very under the weather and had to get some rest.  Back today, though and have a fantastic real wedding of Natalie and Matthew!

The colors of the wedding were sea glass inspired light green and blue and no detail was left to chance.  Even the bride’s beautiful necklace was coordinated with the sea colors.

When speaking with Natalie, she told me the color palate inspired everything–from flowers to decor and even the guest’s attire.  To keep in line with the themed color palate, they had touches of starfish to complete the beach look.

For the ceremony, the couple enjoyed the music of Kate Allenger of Cayman Violin and also had a sand ceremony to illustrate their unity.   The reception was around the pool area at the Westin–absolutely beautiful.  Tables were dressed with blue orchids, green napkins and starfish.  Even the cupcake tower was appropriately themed.

As the sun set over the horizon, the couple danced their first dance…can you think of anything more romantic??
