Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Kim and Todd

Two words come to mind for today’s Cayman Islands real wedding…beautiful simplicity.  I’ve always said some of my favorite weddings are the ones that are the most simple and this one just takes the cake (no pun intended!).  Kim and Todd were married in Little Cayman, the smallest of the three Cayman Islands.  If you have not been there, it really is a relaxing treat were doors are still left unlocked, bikes are used on the honor system and no matter where you are from, you immediately feel like family!

Kim and Todd were married, just the two of them, on Owen Island (a tiny sand island off of Little Cayman).  Owen Island is breathtaking and in my opinion, one of the most romantic places in the world!  What a fabulous place for an intimate wedding!!!  They stayed at the Southern Cross Club where they also had dinner by candle light (and tiki torch).

One special touch  I absolutely loved was her bouquet.  It was made by Brigitte Kasa and each flower was handpicked from her garden.  Talk about local flair!!

How did they top off the evening?  The groom won a fireworks display in a contest he entered, so as they cut the cake the fireworks went off!!!  How amazing!!

Thank you Kim and Todd for sharing your special day with us!  We wish you all the best for the future and look forward to welcoming you back to Cayman soon!!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Alex and Rachel, Part 2

So we’re back with more yumminess (seriously, look at those cupcakes) from Alex and Rachel’s Cayman Islands Wedding!  Would you believe that the entire day prior to their ceremony it poured rain???  If I didn’t live here I wouldn’t believe it either…look at that sunset!!!!!

As promised, some words from the couple about their day…

Crystal Blue:  What was your most memorable moment from your wedding:

Rachel:  Seeing each other for the first time!  We decided to take pictures before the ceremony, so before gathering the family, Melissa, our photographer gave Alex and I a few moments together.  Seeing each other in our wedding clothes made us even more excited for what was to come!

Crystal Blue:  That’s so nice!!  I’m glad it stopped raining for you!  How about funniest moment??

Rachel:  Oh, that’s easy.  Alex and I were together for 7.5 years before we got married.  Our Pastor was someone Alex has known since elementary school and commented on our long courtship during the ceremony.  A believe the words were something like “a long time in the making…”  When our friends and family openly agreed, we all had a laugh!

Crystal Blue:  How would you describe your day–in three words?

Rachel:  Beautiful, Simplistic and FUN!

Thank you Rachel and Alex for sharing your day with us!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Alex and Rachel

Welcome to a new week on Crystal Blue Wedding Studio!  We hope you had a good weekend and wanted to start off the week with another fabulous Cayman Islands Real Wedding.  This couple starts their journey in Cayman long before their wedding when the groom, Alex, surprised the bride, Rachel with a trip to Grand Cayman for her graduate school graduation.  If that wasn’t nice enough, he finished off the trip by proposing to Rachel under the moon and stars of Seven Mile Beach!  Melissa Wolfe wasn’t there to capture the engagement, but she did a fantastic job capturing the moments (and beautiful sunset colors) of the wedding!

More in a little while from the couple and to find out who made this day possible!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Sean and Angelique, Part 2

We are back with more of Sean and Angelique’s happy and chic wedding!  I was lucky enough to be at this wedding and let me tell you it was F-U-N!  I asked Angelique what her favorite part of the day was…here’s what she said.

Angelique:  Wow it’s impossible to pick only one… Lovely romantic beach ceremony, champagne cocktail hour, delicious plated dinner entertained with great speeches,  a surprise song  to the bride performed by the groom, yummy wedding cake and sparklers and hours of dancing!  The entire day was just amazing!

Crystal Blue:  It was amazing and the song from Sean, in particular, was fantastic!!!   I agree with you, though, there were so many great parts to the day–it’s too hard to choose!

Let’s look at some more details from their day!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Sean and Angelique

It is our pleasure today to share with you the beautiful wedding of Sean and Angelique!  This gorgeous couple was married in Grand Cayman in 2009 at the exclusive venue, Sunset Bay.  First, some eye candy and then some details from the couple…

Crystal Blue:  Tell us what your design inspiration was for your wedding.

Angelique:  I wanted it to be chic and happy so I went with chic black and white and happy hot pink!  Also, we wanted to bring in some local elements to the decor so, for example, we used bougainvillea on our canopy and table centerpieces.

Crystal Blue:  Well everything absolutely looked chic and happy!  We’ll be back with more from Angelique in a little bit!

Crystal Blue Vendor :: Two Paperdolls

We are so honored to be able to feature Two Paperdolls today.  We first learned of this amazingly creative company at a luxury wedding business summit, engage!09 (here in Grand Cayman in June of 2009) and when it came time to design the logo for Crystal Blue Wedding Studio, I contacted them immediately!   Luckily for you, they also design and print the most beautiful wedding invitations as well as all of your other wedding stationery products!

I chatted with Nicole at Two Paperdolls earlier this week to find out more about the company.  Here’s what she had to say!!!

Crystal Blue:  Tell us about Two Paperdolls–the 5w’s…

Nicole:  Two Paperdolls was founded in 2000 by Vanessa Kreckel and Suzanne Gallagher.  The first studio opened in 2003 and has grown exponentially since then!  We are located in Pennsylvania but work with clients everywhere and can help with more than just your wedding invitations!  We love when we can coordinate your entire suite of wedding stationery–from the engagement party all the way through to thank you cards.

Crystal Blue:  I do LOVE when I see coordinated stationery for some one’s wedding.  The invitation is more than just the information about the event–I see it as part of the decor.  How do you work through the design process with a couple to integrate the stationery aspects into the overall design for their day?

Nicole:  When speaking with a couple in the initial consultation, I try to get a sense of who they are and their overall design aesthetic.  I also discuss with them the kind of message they want to convey to their guest.  Couples will often bring fabric swatches, photographs and more which helps with the design process.  After meeting with a couple our designers get to work!

Crystal Blue:  You mentioned “meeting”, how do you work with couples who live too far to come to your studio?

Nicole:  We work with them over the phone and through email.  We always ensure that we talk through everything over the phone since emails can often be misinterpreted and then follow up our discussions with an email to make sure nothing is missed.

Crystal Blue:  Personally, I was 100% happy with how the process worked from a distance–you made it so easy and enjoyable–thank you!!  Do you have any closing remarks or advice for our couples reading this?

Nicole:  Stay true to yourselves and what you love! It is easy to get wrapped up in what the latest magazines and blogs are featuring, but sometimes that can take you on a path that ends in something far from what you started with – and ultimately love.  Trends come and go but this is your wedding and it should be all about you.

Thank you so much, Nicole and Two Paperdolls!!!!  Check out some photo samples of their work below!

Cayman Islands Real Wedding :: Kristina and Jeff

From the moment I saw this couple, I knew I wanted to share this wedding with you!  Not only are Kristina and Jeff a gorgeous couple (inside and out!) but they have a great story to go along with their wedding.  Long story short, Kristina and Jeff gave a new definition to the term “whirlwind romance” when a hurricane literally came through Cayman the day before their wedding.  During the week prior their wedding, the date changed no less than 5 times within 5 days–along with each storm update they received.

Anyway…let’s start with some eye candy…

We caught up with Kristina and Jeff to find out more.  Come back in a little while to hear what they had to say!!
